Search Engines are there to return search results to users like you and I, to return the most relevant search results these Search Engines are required to evaluate each site. The evaluation process generally includes a visit by a search engine robot and/or spider, the role of these search robots is to analyze your site and determine the most popular terms and phrases but also any links within site.
Links will take various forms on your site, from navigation around your site, links within the content of your site and external links. The search engine algorithm will place a weighted value to each element (it is thought there are over 200 different factors go into making up the search engine algorithm). Thinking of the external links mentioned above, these are links that you create within your own site but they link to another site external to yours, the search engines essentially see this as a vote for this external site and so helps it rise within the search rankings. So whilst linking to other sites from your site is in no way detrimental in fact some believe it benefits your site as it makes it appear more genuine. The aim therefore is to attract site linking back (backlinks) to your site, so effectively voting for your site.
It is a little more complex than just simply getting as many backlinks as possible, each backlink will also carry a weighting value and this is where Kanyo will help build a backlink strategy. The aim will be to build links within directories, other websites, forums, blogs and social media which will be relevant to your business sector.
Building a link building strategy is not something that will happen overnight it has to be developed over months and years and may not directly bring more traffic to your site. It will though have a direct effect of your website ranking within the search engines.
Note more recently Google is penalising businesses whose backlinks are not relevant see to the Google disavow tool
